As a new era potentially draws near, the Green Bay Packers are still sorting out unanswered questions regarding their coaching staff. Despite making the announcement at the beginning of the week that the organization wanted to extend head coach Matt LaFleur, no agreement has been reached between the two sides after days of negotiating.
However, recent reports state that Green Bay is close to agreements on contract extensions for both LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst.
And while these roles seem to be headed to a resolution before too long, the Packers are likely going to have to start interviewing coaches for a different significant role on LaFleur’s staff.
Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is a finalist for Miami Dolphins job

Even before the LaFleur questions started flying, it had already been established that defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley was going to be a hot name on the head coaching market this offseason. Indeed, he has interviewed for six of the nine head coaching jobs available.
And so sure are the Packers that he is going to land one of those jobs, namely the Miami Dolphins position, that NFL insider Mike Garafolo has announced Green Bay has started to look into hiring a new defensive coordinator:
Meanwhile, sources say the #Packers have begun work on defensive coordinators, as they expect Jeff Hafley is going to get a head-coaching job and will need to make a DC hire. https://t.co/mYt0SnBw9X

It should come as no surprise that Hafley is held in such high regard around the NFL, and especially by the Dolphins whose new general manager, Jon Eric-Sullivan, was just hired away from the Packers organization.
Hafley has been Green Bay’s defensive coordinator for each of the past two seasons. Prior to being hired by the Packers, he was the head coach at Boston College, so he is coming into these interviews with plenty of experience.
