The Green Bay Packers made changes to the offensive line in the offseason. Former Packers offensive lineman David Bakhtiari is still an NFL free agent. Some teams could have signed him in the offseason like the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys.
Green Bay’s offensive line could be a major question mark entering their Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. The Packers had to do a lot of shuffling of the offensive line during training camp.
Freddie Boston of Lombardiavenue.com Bold Predicts That David Bakhtiari Will Return To the Green Bay Packers
Freddie Boston of lombardiavenue.com made four bold predictions for the Packers for the upcoming 2024 NFL season. One of those bold predictions he made was that Bakhtiari would return to the Packers at some point during the 2023 season. Boston said:
“David Bakhtiari is still searching for a new home, while the Packers lack tackle depth. A reunion makes more sense than ever. If he’s fully healthy, Bakhtiari could resume his role as the Packers’ starting left tackle, allowing Rasheed Walker to cover both spots as the swing tackle.
Green Bay kept Andre Dillard, Kadeem Telfort, and Travis Glover on the 53-man roster, but neither has performed consistently enough to run away with the swing tackle job. The Packers may have an issue if Walker or Zach Tom gets hurt.
Bakhtiari said he wants to play with the next Super Bowl MVP. That may require a return to Green Bay.”
For now, Rasheed Walker will be the starting left tackle and Zach Tom will be the starting right tackle. Andre Dillard and Kadeem Telfort will be the backup tackles, but David Bakhtiari would be a better option than Dillard and Telfort.
Rookie Jordan Morgan Not Playing Tackle
First-round selection Jordan Morgan is not playing tackle for the Green Bay Packers and will be playing guard. If they do not bring back Bakhtiari and if Walker or Tom get injured, it is possible that Morgan could get moved to tackle depending on what happens.
Jordan Morgan and Sean Rhyan will occupy the right guard position for now. It feels like a stretch that the Packers will bring Bakhtiari however because he may sign elsewhere before coming to Green Bay or stay a free agent.
