Green Bay Packers David Bakhtiari Reveals What He Told Jordan Love about Potential Rebuild

There are a great deal of questions surrounding the Green Bay Packers as they prepare for the 2023 NFL season. Will Jordan Love be good? Will they improve on their 8-9 record? What will their wide receiver and tight end positions look like? A couple of weeks ago, David Bakhtiari turned some heads during his appearance on “Bussin’ with the Boys” when he said that bettors probably think the Packers will not be good in 2023. During a weekend appearance on “Open Mike,” Bakhtiari revealed what he told Jordan Love about the possibility of this year being a rebuilding year for Green Bay.

David Bakhtiari Says 2023 Will Be a Rebuilding Year

    During his interview, Bakhtiari said:

“I literally today talked to Jordan (Love) about this,” Bakhtiari said regarding Rodgers’ heir apparent. “I’m like, ‘The Packers rebuilt from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers.’ What are we going to say? It’s not a rebuild? Like, that is what that is. And that’s totally fine.

“I’m not saying that we’re going to be bad. I’m not saying we’re going to be good. I don’t know and that’s the beauty. No one really knows how good they are. We start the season, everyone is batting 1.000. No one has any losses. No one has any wins. And let the season play out however it may be.”

Bakhtiari pointed to the Packers’ record in 2008 when Rodgers was in his first year as the starter as evidence that 2023 could be a rebuild:

“His first year what did he go, like 6-10, I want to say. There’s still a transition period in that. Like, you have to build your team.”

It seems like Bakhtiari may be trying to do some damage control after his appearance on “Bussin’ with the Boys.” While he would not commit to saying that the Packers will be good in 2023, he also shied away from saying they will be bad. It’s interesting that his “I don’t know and that’s the beauty,” comments sounds like a page out of the Aaron Rodgers Interview Script.

It is worth noting, however, that Bakhtiari is right in the sense that the 2008 Packers struggled in Rodgers’ first season as a starter. Furthermore, they were 13-3 the year before and lost the NFC Championship Game at home to the New York Giants. As mentioned, the 2022 Packers were 8-9. They have [probably] lost two wide receivers and two tight ends. There are many challenges that need to be overcome in order for them to even improve on that roster.

As Bakhtiari notes, only time will tell.
