For weeks, Green Bay Packers fans have been dreaming about the team adding a bonified number one wide receiver to their group of pass catchers. With Christian Watson likely missing most (if not all) of the 2025 NFL season due to a torn ACL suffered in Week 18, the wide receiver position suddenly became an area of focus for offseason transaction projections.
Of course, it may have been anyway, even if Watson had not gotten hurt. Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks all had drop percentages near or over 10% in 2024, which obviously is not good enough for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Davante Adams Has Been Teasing a Possible Return

When the Packers traded Davante Adams away following the 2021 NFL season, they had hoped that drafting a plethora of young wide receivers would help replace him. Unfortunately, while the receivers Green Bay has drafted in the years since have turned out to be pretty good, none have stepped up to be the guy in the position room.
Adams, for his part, has been his usual productive self, going over 1,000 receiving in each season since he left Green Bay. However, it appears that he is yearning for a return to his original team.
One reason fans and some NFL analysts believe this to be true is because of a recent social media post Adams made of himself wearing Green and Gold shoes.
The three-time All-Pro wide receiver has also been highly complimentary of current Packers quarterback Jordan Love and the organization as a whole during his frequent appearances on Kay Adams’ podcast “Up and Adams.”
Throughout all of these comments and posts, though, Adams has also made it clear that he is still very much under contract with the New York Jets. That, according to recent speculation, may change soon.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Davante Adams Has Not Heard from the New York Jets Since Coaching Hire

According to multiple reports, Adams has not heard from the Jets ever since they hired their new head coach, Aaron Glenn, and general manager, Darren Mougey.

When he was first hired, Glenn stated that he would be evaluating the entire roster to see who he wants back, and who might need to go.
One would assume that, if New York wanted Adams back next season, they would have reached out to him by now. This line of thinking as many Packers fans convinced, once again, that one of the best wide receivers in franchise history may be making a return home in 2025:
