“Certainly Hope To Find A Trade Partner”: Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Davante Adams Could Be Let Go By the New York Jets This Offseason (Report)

The Green Bay Packers drafted wide receiver Davante Adams in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft (53rd overall selection). Adams played for the Fresno State Bulldogs in college.

He had a slow start in his NFL career, but his career took off during the 2016 NFL season. Adams played for Green Bay from 2014 to 2021 and had several 1,000-yard seasons. He was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders before the start of the 2022 NFL season. During the 2024 NFL season, Adams was traded from the Raiders to the New York Jets to reunite with Aaron Rodgers.

Bleacher Report Scouting Department Has Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Davante Adams Being Released Potentially By the New York Jets This Offseason

The Bleacher Report Scouting Department created a cap casualty list for each NFL team entering this offseason. They had three players listed for each NFL team. One of the players they had on the New York Jets potentially getting released this offseason is former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams. The Bleacher Report Scouting Department said:

“CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jonesreported that there is “great doubt” around the NFL that Aaron Rodgers will be back with the Jets in 2025. Last season was a disaster for Gang Green. While Rodgers wasn’t the only culprit, he wasn’t good enough to elevate the team beyond their struggles. That likely means a new era in New York, and it also likely means his longtime teammates could be on the chopping block.

That would include Davante Adams. While the Jets will certainly hope to find a trade partner, they won’t have much leverage. Adams has a burdensome contract, and the Jets could clear up $29.9 million of his cap hit by releasing him before June 1.”

His cap casualty with the Jets this offseason would be $38.3 million. It would be interesting to see if the Jets would be able to trade him to another team this offseason before they potentially decide to release him. The New York Jets could potentially be starting all over in 2025.

Along with Adams, there is a chance that former Green Bay Packers players Aaron Rodgers and Allen Lazard are not back with the New York Jets also next season. Davante Adams this past season caught 85 passes for 1,063 yards, and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 12.5 yards per reception. He was targeted 141 times.

Chance He Reunites With the Green Bay Packers

If Adams was released by the New York Jets this offseason, there could be a chance that he would come back to Green Bay for the 2025 NFL season. Davante Adams is 32 years old, but he would no doubt be the top wide receiver target for quarterback Jordan Love. Adams would be an upgrade over anyone they currently have on the roster.

Jayden Reed would be a reliable number-two option for the Packers. With Christian Watson potentially out for most of the 2025 NFL season with a torn ACL, there is no question that Green Bay will be exploring the wide receiver market this offseason. Romeo Doubs could also be traded from the Green Bay Packers this offseason. Davante Adams potentially signing with the Packers this offseason if released by the New York Jets could be an awesome move for both parties involved.
