Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has some vacancies to fill in his coaching staff after they let go of defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich and the retirement of Tom Clements. The team plans to interview Aaron Whitecotton for the DL job soon. Meanwhile, there’s no notable progress in the search for Clements’ replacement.
LaFleur tends to hire people he has worked with before, and one of his former quarterbacks has thrown himself into the mix.
After a fan suggested that Dan Orlovsky should take the vacated quarterbacks coach job, the ESPN analyst said it “would be an honor” for him to be considered.
Orlovsky and LaFleur worked with each other in the Houston Texans in 2009 and with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017. Orlovsky’s current contract with ESPN expires after this season, which may open an opportunity for him to join LaFleur as part of the Green Bay Packers coaching staff.
Green Bay Packers have to get the right QB coach for Jordan Love
Whoever will get the Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach will face the daunting task of getting the best out of Jordan Love, whose production regressed this season, mainly due to injuries.
In his second full season as Green Bay’s signal caller, Love went 268-for-465 on his passes for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions for a 69.5 QB rating (15 regular season games). He was also sacked 14 times.
The Green Bay Packers lost their last three games in 2024 because they struggled with the passing game. It’s not all Love’s fault though, as he didn’t have enough weapons to target.
