The Green Bay Packers must get down to 53 players on their roster by Tuesday. However, they have started their cuts today. This process will undoubtedly create for some unexpected cuts. Green Bay has to feel pretty good about their linebacker position, because today they cut a depth player who has been in Green Bay since 2019.
Green Bay Packers Cut LB Ty Summers
The Packers have cut LB Ty Summers, a source said. They must be down to 53 by Tuesday but have begun the process today. More moves are likely today and tomorrow. They’re practicing both days and don’t want someone they’re planning to cut getting hurt, Rob Demovsky reported on Sunday morning.
From 2019 to 2020 Ty Summers played in all 32 regular season games. He contributed on both special teams and defense throughout his tenure in Green Bay. Summers lead the team in special team tackles in 2020.
The 2019, seventh round draft pick, has been a solid depth piece for years. He will certainly get looks on the waiver wire from teams across the league. The former TCU linebacker should have no problem getting another job.

This season for the Packers will not be as good as previous years. Having ONLY 2 receivers with significant NFL game experience is NOT going to be good for the offense! Multiple rookies will be tough on the offense. WHY Green Bay did NOT pick up a free agent receiver to me is idiotic! At the VERY LEAST he could help with the development of the rookies! With Aaron Rodgers the Packers ALWAYS have a good chance of the playoffs, BUT without a consistent decent target it will be tougher than normal. All the dropped passes they’ve had! The missed routes? The MISTAKES! Now in pre-season “no big deal?” It IS A BIG DEAL! Those mistakes can turn a incomplete pass or worse a completed that becomes incomplete or again worse a possible Interception, or a drop on 3rd down or a fumble? Either way Rodgers NEEDS GUYS WHO KNOW HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED AT THE PROFESSIONAL LEVEL, THE NFL LEVEL. This could be a make or break year for Rodgers. IF his young receivers/players continue to make drops, missed routes, and mental errors? Frustration could spell out how Rodgers year may end, and Green Bay is NOT, REPEAT NOT READY to have Courtney Love as their starter!
