The Green Bay Packers entered the season with cornerback being one of the perceived weakest position groups on the roster. Although Keisean Nixon has played quite well this season, question marks still remain in the secondary. Free agent acquisition Nate Hobbs has already had problems staying healthy, and Carrington Valentine has not always looked the part on the outside. General manager Brian Gutekunst could use this opportunity to upgrade another position on defense and reinforce the back end.

    Option #1: Roger McCreary

As the Tennessee Titans continue to be one of the worst outfits in the league, General manager Mike Borgonzi has already dealt one corner this season, when he sent Jarvis Brownlee Jr. to the New York Jets in late September. Brownlee has become a promising player in Gotham, and the Packers could look to steal another corner out of Nashville.

McCreary has seen his snap count dramatically decrease, with only 25 plays against Las Vegas. The fourth-year player is known for being an aggressive slot cornerback who is physical in man coverage.

The Packers could use a corner that could serve as a quality backup as a nickel corner. The team’s current main nickelback, Nate Hobbs, has already dealt with injury issues. McCreary could be important depth, and could come at a cheap price given the Titans’ recent coaching change and disastrous start to the season.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler with us now: “I was told the Titans don’t want to trade Jeffery Simmons. I would be very surprised if they moved on from him. Three guys I’m monitoring: Arden Key, Roger McCreary and Chig Okonkwo.” #Titans https://t.co/HqYgdCIIWX

    Option #2: Tariq Woolen

Seattle Seahawks fans have grown continually frustrated with Woolen. After a rookie season in which he was an All-Rookie and earned Pro Bowl honors, Woolen has been maligned by penalties, tackling issues, and getting beat for big plays down the field. He has been benched for short stretches and faded from a top player at his position to a popular trade candidate.

While Woolen’s stock is at an all-time low, the talent is still undeniable. While currently battling confidence issues and clearly having lost some trust within the coaching staff, the 6-foot-4 corner is still one of the fastest players in the league and has proven ability.

Woolen is an outside corner with impressive physical attributes who, although is currently in a rough patch, has shown the quality to be a top player at his position. A change of scenery could see Woolen return to Pro Bowl status. The Packers would likely have to offer a strong player in return for a contending Seattle team to give up on their young defensive back, making this deal more unrealistic.

    Option #3: Deonte Banks

Like Woolen, Banks is a very talented player who is battling a tough stretch in his career. The former first-round pick is now behind both free agent acquisition Paulson Adebo and fourth-year man Cor’Dale Flott, meaning the team could be willing to move him.

Any potential deal with the Giants would likely involve trading a wide receiver. As New York hunts for weapons to help out rookie QB Jaxson Dart, a huge need for the team given Malik Nabers’ season-ending surgery, Green Bay would likely need to send a player like Romeo Doubs or Dontayvion Wicks over to complete such a deal. Gutekunst could see this as a worthy trade-off given the often-discussed crowded nature of the wide recevier room.
