The start of the 2024 NFL season is less than a couple of weeks away. The Green Bay Packers will kick off their campaign with a game in Brazil against the Philadelphia Eagles. One area Packers fans (and fantasy football managers) are interested in seeing early in the season concerns the team’s downfield situation.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver room can be a puzzle for fantasy football managers
In a recent write-up, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic pointed out the lack of a clear alpha in the wide receiver room of Green Bay.
Who will be Jordan Love’s No. 1 target?
Coach Matt LaFleur recently said he wants to vomit whenever he hears the term “No. 1 wide receiver.” The Packers think they have four capable of being that guy — Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks. Because of that, you likely won’t see Packers receivers, despite their potentially electric passing game, going early in any fantasy drafts. Your best bet is probably Doubs because of his red zone output last season and that he likely has the best hands of the bunch, but it’s truly a shot in the dark
For what it’s worth, Jayden Reed led the Packers in 2023 with 793 receiving yards, while Reed and Romeo Doubs were tied for the team lead with eight touchdown receptions each.
At the end of the day, LaFleur and the Packers don’t operate to make fantasy football managers happy.
