Former Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews applauded Myles Garrett for requesting a trade out of the Cleveland Browns.

While some viewed Garrett’s request as selfish, Matthews believes the opposite since the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year was trying to take the future of his career into his own hands.
“Well, there’s a fit for him everywhere. I think this might be the first time in a long time that an NFL athlete has kind of taken the power and said, ‘Hey, I want to move on.'” Matthews said in an exclusive interview with TMZ Sports.

“And I don’t think there’s been a negative thing said about Myles because of what he’s been able to do on the field, what he has meant to the Cleveland community…You’ve got to do what’s best for your career, and Myles has already cemented himself as one of the best defensive players in a long time. He’s achieved every personal accolade, and it’s time to achieve that team accolade,” he added.
Myles Garrett could be the next Reggie White for the Green Bay Packers
Myles Garrett would be the biggest defensive acquisition for the Green Bay Packers since they landed the late Reggie White in 1993. Before going to Green Bay, White spent his prime years with the Philadelphia Eagles, who failed to capitalize on his brilliance.

Similarly, Garrett has spent the first eight seasons of his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns, who only recorded one playoff victory during his tenure.
Green Bay will likely give up a lot to acquire the six-time Pro Bowler. However, what they’ll get in return should make it worth it.
