The Green Bay Packers will cap off the Thanksgiving Day NFL slate on Thursday night when they take on the Miami Dolphins. At 8-3, Green Bay is looking to create more distance between themselves and the Washington Commanders, who are 7-5. The Packers hold the sixth seed in the NFC Playoff picture while the Commanders currently hold the seventh.
Of course, the Packers are not mathematically eliminated from winning the NFC North this season. However, the Detroit Lions improved to 11-1 with their Thanksgiving win over the Chicago Bears this afternoon, dropping Chicago to 4-8.
The Chicago Bears Lost to the Detroit Lions in Embarrassing Fashion
Despite the final score, 23-20, the Bears were making a drive at the end of the game that could have led to them tying the game or even winning it. But with 36 seconds left, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked by former Packers edge rusher Za’Darius Smith.
Instead of taking a timeout to regroup and run an un-rushed play, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus decided to let the clock wind down. Williams finally snapped the ball with six seconds remaining, but his pass to Rome Odunze fell incomplete.
The clock hit 0:00 and the Lions won the game.
It truly was a case of terrible clock management, something that Packers fans let the world know on social media.

After the game, Eberflus told reporters that he would not have done anything differently at the end of the game, despite having a timeout in his pocket that went unused.

As one can see, many Packers fans believe that Eberflus will not be employed by Chicago for much longer. A defensive-minded head coach, he has not done a good job of helping develop Williams at all.
And as for Green Bay, he has never beaten them. With the loss against the Lions on Thanksgiving, he fell to just 2-13 against the rest of the NFC North.
