The Green Bay Packers will face the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road on Sunday. Green Bay won last week against the Los Angeles Rams (3-6) 20-3. The Packers have a 3-5 record and the Steelers have a 5-3 record on the year. If Green Bay wins, they can very well be back in the wild card race in the NFC.
With the Packers having running back Aaron Jones back healthy, Kay Adams of the Up & Adams Show thinks they have a chance to go on a run. She said on her show on Wednesday:
“People forget that even when Aaron Rodgers was out there winning those MVPs it wasn’t all [offensive coordinator Nathaniel] Hackett that was the reason guys. Aaron Jones was a key part in making that offense go. And the Packers are not dead yet. They are 3-5, the NFC, don’t tell me [it’s] not shaky on the back end. And if they beat the Steelers they’ll be right in the mix for a playoff spot.”
That’s an interesting take here by Kay Adams that Aaron Jones helped quarterback Aaron Rodgers all of those years despite winning a couple of MVPs. She is right that the Packers offense this season does run through running back Aaron Jones so it can make life easier on quarterback Jordan Love.
It is a Nice Thought That the Green Bay Packers Can Go On a Run But the Next Four Games are Brutal
The Packers’ next four games can all very well be losses. They face the 5-3 Pittsburgh Steelers this week, the 4-4 Los Angeles Chargers next week, the 6-2 Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, and the 7-2 Kansas City Chiefs the following week. Green Bay can very well go 0-4 in that stretch.
The Green Bay Packers have a better chance of going on a losing streak over the next month. For Green Bay, the next game that could feel like a slam dunk win is against the 2-7 New York Giants, who are currently trying to tank for a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft.
There will need to be many things that bounce right for Green Bay to get back into the playoff mix. The Minnesota Vikings currently have the seventh spot in the NFC with a 5-4 record. It feels like a long shot for the Green Bay Packers to make the playoffs in 2023.
