The Green Bay Packers have themselves selected a stud wide receiver in Texas Longhorns product Matthew Golden, and it didn’t take long for the division-rival Chicago Bears to also add to their receiver corps. With the 39th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft’s second round, the Bears added a young receiver who draft experts have compared to the Packers’ Jayden Reed.

Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears Both Add Talented Pass-Catchers
New Green Bay Packer Matthew Golden is going to add a lot of explosiveness to Jordan Love and the Packers offense. A true downfield threat with excellent speed, Golden is looking forward to a lot of big plays, touchdowns, and Lambeau Leaps in his Packers future.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears also have added some significant talent to their receiving unit. Missouri Tigers product Luther Burden III was selected by Chicago in the early second round.
Burden is considered one of the better yards-after-catch (YAC) threats in the class. He is a quick, agile, and dynamic ball-carrier who figures to be a threat on screen passes, underneath routes, and also downfield areas. Burden has some similar skills to DJ Moore, who led the Bears in receiving last year, but also has been compared to Packers wideout Jayden Reed by NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.

Chicago Bears Adding Jayden Reed-Type Wideout
Jayden Reed is also a dynamic YAC player who does the majority of his damage underneath. In a Packers offense that is adding Matthew Golden to downfield threats like Christian Watson, Reed has been a more intermediate threat and shown the ability to turn quick slants and other underneath routes into big plays. Burden is going to be hoping to do the same for Chicago.

Statistics-wise, the two are quite similar. Reed ran a 4.45 40-yard-dash, which Burden narrowly edged out at 4.41. Burden is a bigger receiver than Reed despite them both standing at 5-foot-11. Burden weighs around 205 pounds compared to Reed’s 187-pound frame.
Chicago now had Burden and second-year wideout Rome Odunze as a promising young receiving corps. There is a lot of promising offensive talent in the NFC North for the Packers to contend with.
