The Green Bay Packers are entering the NFL playoffs in a not-so-fine form. After losing to the Minnesota Vikings on the road in Week 17 via a 27-25 score, the Packers suffered a 24-22 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field in Week 18 last Sunday.
Green Bay was already assured of a playoff spot regardless of how those two games turned out, but for former Packers offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga, Green Bay’s loss, particularly to the Bears, was a great missed opportunity to gain some intangibles heading into the playoffs.
“Anything you could’ve gained from that game, you didn’t get it,” Bulaga said about the Packers losing to the Bears in Week 18 (h/t The Homer Hour).
“Confidence, momentum, excitement. You have to try & discover that at practice this week.”
Green Bay Packers’ Week 18 loss left a bad taste in their mouth heading into the NFL playoffs
A win against the Bears would have indeed given Green Bay some momentum. Chicago walked into that matchup at Lambeau Field looking like the perfect punching bag for the Packers to practice with, as Chicago was on a 10-game losing skid. But the Bears played like they had something to lose.
Green Bay got a one-point lead with under a minute remaining in regulation versus the Bears after a 55-yard field goal make but Chicago kicker Cairo Santos responded to that with a game-winning 51-yard field goal to give his team the lead–and the win as time expired.
In any case, the Packers can forget about that loss and focus on the Philadelphia Eagles, which host Green Bay on Sunday in a wild-card game.
