Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has been an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump for years. Of course, this was no surprise as the legendary three-time NFL MVP and Pro Football Hall of Famer has always supported conservative candidates for political office.
Favre has also been a controversial figure over the last few years due to his alleged involvement in the Mississippi Welfare scandal. According to reports, he used his influence over republican governor Phil Bryant to divert funds intended for the people of Mississippi, the most impoverished state in the nation, to the university at which his daughter played volleyball so that the school could build a new stadium.
Green Bay Packers Legend Brett Favre Congratulated Donald Trump on Being Sworn in as President of the United States
Monday, of course, was the day that Trump was sworn into office as the 47th President of the United States. Favre posted a few pictures of himself and the President playing golf along with a message wishing him well as he embarks on his presidency:
I just want to congratulate President @realDonaldTrump on taking office today.
He’s been a good friend and I think he will help mend fences and turn the country around — not just for some people, but everyone. God bless America. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/BFoKriNaEL

The majority of the comments on Favre’s post complimented him on supporting Trump and shared in well wishes for the President. Others, however, were not so positive.

He’s a thief and a liar just like you. You’re a pathetic human being. That’s your legacy.

It does bear mentioning that Favre has not been indicted or charged with any crimes in relation to the Mississippi Welfare Scandal.
