Many Green Bay Packers fans are looking forward to their team’s upcoming duel against the Minnesota Vikings, but there are instances where their attention is jolted elsewhere. One such occasion is when one of the best QBs to ever suit up for your team is facing a life-threatening condition.
Brett Favre revealed that he’d been recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, something that surprised and saddened Packers fans and long-time followers of the NFL. While former teammates and fans reached out to express their support for the Hall of Fame signal caller, he detailed what he thinks contributed to his condition deteriorating to such a point.
Former Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre talks about concussions contributing to his condition
Favre revealed his condition during a speech at Congress where he is being investigated for his involvement in a welfare fund scandal in his home state of Mississippi.
Fans immediately pedaled back to an interview he gave two years ago where he talked about how the numerous concussions he received in his NFL career, where he claimed that he suffered more than 1,000 hits to the head.
Per The Spun’s Andrew Holleran:
“The thing about concussions is we still don’t know a lot about them,” Favre said during a 2022 interview with Bubba the Love Sponge. “If you had asked me this 10 years ago, how many concussions I had, I would’ve said three. The reason I would have said three, I thought concussions were where you get knocked out, where you black out for a period of time you don’t know where you are, memory loss, dizzy. A boxer gets knocked and tries to get up, his legs are rubber, that’s a concussion.”
Favre was an unstoppable force during his time at Lambeau Field. He threw for 61,655 yards and 442 touchdowns during the 16 years he spent with the Green Bay Packers. Aside from his spot in Canton, he also won one Super Bowl, three First-Team All-Pro mentions, 11 Pro Bowls, and multiple MVP awards.
Green Bay Packers fans, the rest of the NFL, and everyone at Wisconsin Sports Heroics wish Favre and his family the best as he faces this tough battle.
