There’s no bigger offseason rivalry in the NFL happening on the internet than between the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets fan bases. The two have debated everything on the merits of the Aaron Rodgers trade since March, from how much the quarterback was worth giving up to both teams’ regular season expectations after the trade. Now a nasty skirmish has broken out about the strengths of the Packers and Jets at running back with Aaron Jones and Breece Hall.
I’d imagine these two fanbases will have jabs all through the offseason into late next season.
Aaron Jones has been a Green Bay Packers staple
Jones was a staple of the Packers’ offense with Rodgers. Jones earned a Pro Bowl appearance with the Packers in 2020. He’s run for over 5,000 yards and 42 touchdowns in six seasons. Jones has also added 1,843 receiving yards and 17 touchdown receptions in Green Bay.
Hall was a second-round draft pick last year. He had a great start to last season, running for 463 yards with a 5.8 yards per rush average in his first seven games. Hall was in the running for offensive rookie of the year before he suffered a torn ACL injury.
Fans debate if Breece Hall is better than Jones
Jones’ name trended on Twitter Wednesday as a debate started between NFL fans about whether Rodgers had a better running back situation with the Jets next season. The debate was auxiliary part of the debate on if the Jets offense was better than the Packers offense from the previous few years after signing Randall Cobb Wednesday, the fourth former Packers player on the Jets offense. Here are the best takes on the Jones vs. Hall debate.
Sure

Packers OL >>>> Jets OL
Adams>>> Wilson
Lazard = Lazard
GB Cobb > NY Cobb
Jones/Dillon >>> ACL Hall/Carter
Pre-ACL Tonyan/Big Dog>> Conklin/Uzomah
MVS > Corey Davis (if he stays)
EQ < Mecole

Packers O-line > Jets O-line
Aaron Jones/Dillon > Breece Hall/Michael Carter
Packers WRs = Jets WRs
Packers TEs < Jets TEs
Packers DST<Jets DST
Idk I'm just throwing stuff out there. Basically a wash at this point
Adams isn’t on the Packers anymore, Rodgers is infinitely better than Love, and Jones is washed

I love Aaron Jones.

But Breece dooooooes look pretty good.
Not gonna waste my time arguing peak Aaron Jones vs healthy Breece Hall as it is at least debatable.
Peak Adams vs current Wilson is delusional.
And no breece hall is better than Jones easily

This Breece Hall > Aaron Jones nonsense is funny every time. https://t.co/pUOnKNWtom pic.twitter.com/tQfjlEGiqT

Breece / Hall isn’t gonna be better than Aaron Jones & AJ Dillon

also ur TEs r mid man Ruckert isn’t that guy
Aaron Jones comparable to Breece Hall, if not better at this point and really just have Wilson instead of Watson. Don’t quite know what we are accomplishing, but the offense will be more geared towards ARod vs Matt L wanted to run ball more I think.

Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson are top 5 at their position btw who does Jordan Love have? Just Aaron jones that’s it LMFAOOO https://t.co/xC6h0zO77k

I don't see how you could argue a post-ACL second year Breece Hall is better than Aaron Jones was in 19,20,21.
