The Green Bay Packers will begin preparations for the second preseason against Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos. The game will be played on Sunday, August 18 in Denver, Colorado with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. Green Bay won its first preseason game over the Cleveland Browns 23-10 on Saturday.
As for Denver, they won their first preseason game on the road on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts 34-30. The Broncos have not made it to the playoffs since winning Super Bowl L against the Carolina Panthers.
It will be interesting to see if Packers head coach Matt LaFleur will start Jordan Love on Sunday against Denver or not. As for the Broncos, they currently have a quarterback battle going on during training camp.
Denver Broncos Plan On Starting Rookie Quarterback Bo Nix On Sunday Against the Green Bay Packers
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bo Nix of the Denver Broncos is scheduled to start on Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers. Nix was the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Oregon. He is competing with Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham for the starting spot.
For now, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has Stidham ahead of Nix on the depth chart. On Sunday, Stidham completed 4-of-7 passes for 37 yards and one interception. As for Bo Nix, he completed 15-of-21 passes for 125 yards and one touchdown. Nix also rushed for 17 yards on three carries.
Nix threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Mims Jr. in the second quarter for Denver against Indianapolis. Mims Jr. only caught two passes for 17 yards receiving and one touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts.
With Nix projected to start on Sunday against the Packers, it will be interesting to see how long he will play. It is possible that Bo Nix will play the first half and Zach Wilson will play the second half. It is possible that Green Bay may not see Jarrett Stidham at all in this preseason matchup.
For now, Nix will not be the Week 1 starter for the Broncos. If he has a strong showing in the final two preseason games like he did on Sunday, it may be hard for Payton to leave him on the bench.
