Green Bay Packers wide receiver Bo Melton has impressed once again during training camp. It will be interesting to see how many wide receivers Green Bay will decide to keep on the roster ahead of Tuesday’s 3 p.m. CT deadline.
The roster must be trimmed to 53 players by then. Some are making predictions that Green Bay will keep as many as seven wide receivers on the roster and will only keep one quarterback on the roster. It remains to be if this is the route they are going to head in.
Jim Nagy Thinks That Teams Should Call the Green Bay Packers About Bo Melton
Jim Nagy is the Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl and was also an NFL scout for 18 years. Nagy said on his Twitter page about the Packers wide receiver:
“Plenty of teams right now with glaring need for quality No. 3 or 4 WR should be on phone with Packers about Bo Melton. Last year,
had 15 catches and 211 yards in final three games. Gutey should be able to get picks for one of his Nos. 5-7 WRs.”
There is no room for Melton to get play time on the roster. Ahead of him will be Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Romeo Doubs. Those four wide receivers will get more play time than Melton would at the moment. He would be the fifth wide receiver on the Packers roster.
They also need room for Grant DuBose and Malik Heath. It would make the most sense for a team to take a chance on Bo Melton as the third wide receiver.
Pittsburgh Steelers Could Be a Team That Calls Green Bay
The Pittsburgh Steelers could still use some help at the wide receiver position. Outside of George Pickens, Pittsburgh does not have much help at the position. Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin III are the other projected starters on the Steelers roster.
Bo Melton would get a serious look at the offense for the Steelers if he were to be traded away from the Packers. The only way Melton will see the field often for Green Bay this season is if there are massive injuries at the wide receiver position.
