The Green Bay Packers had one of the most interesting off-seasons in the league. They moved on from multiple veterans in David Bakhtiari and Aaron Jones. They also addressed key positions in free agency by signing Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney.
However, another free agent announced today that he chose the Packers over multiple other suitors.
The Green Bay Packers Got One Free Agent To Sign With Team Over Multiple Other Teams

In preparation for the 2024 season, the Green Bay Packers began their OTAs Tuesday. AJ Dillon, who signed a fourth-year qualifying contract with Green Bay in free agency, returns from last year’s team.
Initially, many believed Dillon didn’t get much attention on the open market, but it turns out he actually had many more pursuing him than originally thought:
AJ Dillon said he had other offers in free agency before re-signing with Packers this offseason. Asked him why returning on four-year qualifying offer was best option for him.

AJ Dillon Will Have His Work Cut Out For Him In 2024

It’s great that AJ Dillon is a fan favorite and the Mayor of Door County, but it’s time to get real. In the future, AJ Dillon may not be carrying the ball more than 10 times per game. When you just paid top dollar for an elite running back (Josh Jacobs) you feed him the ball. Your third round pick (MarShawn Lloyd) is another extrememy exciting prospect. It’s going to take getting him touches to see what he can do in this league.
It is possible that Emanuel Wilson and AJ Dillon will compete to handle clean-up duty at the end of games or in emergency situations.
Unfortunately, Dillon never cemented himself as a true number one running back in Green Bay. Now he will have an uphill battle to get on the field consistently in 2024.
