Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon might have to walk away from the team in free agency if he wishes to find new opportunities to play next season.

The 26-year-old signed a one-year $2.7 million contract last offseason following the departure of Aaron Jones to the Minnesota Vikings, but he hasn’t played this season due to a neck injury. And according to Rucker Haringey of FanSided, Dillon should consider joining the Dallas Cowboys to help fix their running back room since he is low at the Green Bay Packers’ pecking order behind Josh Jacobs, Emanuel Wilson, and MarShawn Lloyd.
“Assuming he’s healthy, Dillon checks a lot of boxes for a Cowboys offense that wants to be more physical at the line of scrimmage. He’s a classic bruising back who can punish opposing front sevens with his intense style of running,” Haringey wrote.
“Dillon’s free agency price should be pretty modest coming off an injury-ravaged season. He would be a cheap free agent signing with a lot of upside for Dallas. A short-term deal would be best for both the player and the team on this occasion. Signing him might be a gamble worth taking for the Cowboys,” he added.

AJ Dillon wants to stay with the Green Bay Packers
Since being drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, AJ Dillon has become a fan favorite. However, he may not be on the team’s long-term plans. Dillon has only started 11 games in his NFL career, amassing 2,428 rushing yards, 763 receiving yards, and 18 touchdowns.

The former Boston College standout recently sat down with Kay Adams, saying he would love to be back in a Green Bay Packers jersey but is also aware that it’s out of his hands.
“If that’s the way the cards play out that’d be fantastic,” Dillon said.
