Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker was among the many Packers players who did not see action in the team’s Week 1 preseason loss to the New York Jets last Saturday.
He started Packers training camp on Green Bay’s physically unable to perform list, and it was only last week when he finally joined 11-on-11 drills. It has been quite an offseason for Walker, as he underwent ankle surgery back in May after the Packers decided not to pick up their fifth-year option on him for the 2025 NFL season.
While the Packers may not be comfortable enough yet to let him loose on the field in a preseason game, Walker appears to be in line for a heavier workload in practice at Green Bay camp.

Green Bay Packers coach sets expectations for Walker in 2025

Walker, who is entering his fourth season with the Packers, has linebacker coach Sean Duggan believing in his ability to be a speedier weapon for Green Bay’s defense in 2025, especially now that the player is more familiar with the ways of defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.
Via Rob Demovsky of ESPN:
LB coach Sean Duggan said when Quay Walker returns to practice full go, he believes he will play faster than he did last season because of his comfort level in Year 2 with defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. The expectation is that Walker’s practice reps will increase this week.
The 25-year-old Walker, who was taken in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2022 NFL draft by the Packers, had 2.5 sacks and three quarterback hits in 13 games in 2024. He missed the final three games of the 2024 NFL campaign with the same ankle issue that he addressed in the offseason.
