Green Bay Packers Add 2 Two Offensive Weapons For Jordan Love (Breaking)

The Green Bay Packers will have a much different-looking offense in 2023.  The Green Bay Packers finally got the deal done to send Aaron Rodgers to Green Bay (Brian Gutekunst seemed happy).  Tight End Robert Tonyan signed with the Chicago Bears, Allen Lazard went to the Jets, and it is unlikely that Randall Cobb and Marcedes Lewis will be back.  The offensive weapons the Green Bay Packers do have, are led by Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Aaron Jones, and AJ Dillon.  That is, until today.

The Green Bay Packers drafted Oregon State tight end Luke Musgrave with the 42nd overall pick.  That pick was acquired earlier this week from the New York Jets in their trade for Aaron Rodgers.  Musgrave is part of a deep class of tight ends and will likely arrive at the top of a thin Packers depth chart.

“Jordan Love,” Packers Hall of Fame safety LeRoy Butler said before announcing the pick of Reed, “we’ve got some help for you.”

Musgrave stands 6-6 and 253 pounds.  He is a massive target in the middle of the field.  He ran a 4.61 40 at the NFL scouting combine with a 1.64-yard split in the first 10 yards, plenty of speed to stretch the seams.

A knee injury limited Musgrave to just two games last season. He caught 11 passes for 169 yards and one touchdown in those two games, showing the receiving ability the Packers are hoping add to their offense.third round.

Jayden Reed began his college career in 2018 at Western Michigan, then sat out 2019 to transfer to the Spartans. In 2020, He was very productive for Michigan State, setting career highs with 59 catches, 1,026 yards, and 10 touchdowns (adding one more on the ground and two punt return touchdowns). His prowess in the return game is very evident when watching him on tape.

As a receiver, Reed can line up at any spot on offense. Split out wide or in the slot, Reed finds a way to win and make a grab. His ball skills and body control, especially at his size (5-foot-11 and 187 pounds), are reminiscent of first-round draft pick Zay Flowers.  Like Flowers, Reed can still be effective with his speed deep down the field, as well.
