Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. Even before he left the Packers following the 2022 NFL season, he was a sure-fire Pro Football Hall of Famer. The only question, of course, was when he was going to call it a career. It was this question that played a big role in the Packers trading Rodgers to the New York Jets, though their desire to give Jordan Love a shot as their starting quarterback also was a major contributing factor.
After two dysfunctional seasons in New York, one of which Rodgers was sidelined for virtually the whole year with a torn Achilles, the four-time NFL MVP signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers and showed flashes of his old self, leading them to the NFL Playoffs and an AFC North division crown.
Former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers passed over for the Pro Bowl in favor of Shedeur Sanders

In 16 games this season, and playing through a fracture in his left wrist for the second half of the season, Rodgers had a 65.7% completion percentage, 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, just seven interceptions, and a 94.8 passer rating.
Of course, he was not among the top three quarterbacks in the AFC who were chosen for the Pro Bowl. However, with Drake Maye dropping out due to playing in the Super Bowl, and many others such as Patrick Mahomes and Daniel Jones, too injured to play, some thought Rodgers might be named to his 11th career Pro Bowl.
He was not. Instead, the league chose Cleveland Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders:

Sanders appeared in eight games (seven starts) for the Browns this season. He had a 56.6% completion percentage, 1,400 passing yards, seven touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and a 68.1 passer rating.
Perhaps the league asked Rodgers if he wanted to participate in the Pro Bowl and he declined. It is also possible that Trevor Lawrence, who is a finalist for the NFL MVP Award, also declined.
Regardless of whether or not they turned it down, though, the addition of Sanders to the AFC roster for the Pro Bowl is beyond ridiculous.
