When the Green Bay Packers first traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, many believed that he was going to spend the rest of his already storied career in New Jersey, and maybe even win another Super Bowl (or two). Of course, that did not come anywhere close to happening.
Rodgers tore his Achilles four snaps into the 2023 season and was lost for the year. New York went 7-10 in his absence, but were optimistic that having a healthy four-time NFL MVP in 2024 would bring the success they had hoped for when they first traded for him. Unfortunately, for them, it did not.
Rodgers and the Jets went 5-12 this past season, a year that saw them fire their head coach and general manager. The new regime, led by new head coach Aaron Glenn and new general manager Darren Mougey, have decided that they do not want the future Pro Football Hall of Famer on their team.
It Sounds Like Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Wants to Play in 2025

Heading into the offseason, Rodgers was unsure if he even wanted to play in the NFL in 2025. This has, of course, been the same mindset he has gone into the offseason with over the last several years. Just as was the case when Green Bay decided that they were going to move on to Jordan Love, though, the four-time NFL MVP is refusing to let anyone else determine his future.
When Rodgers went on his darkness retreat following the 2022 NFL season, he was 90% leaning towards retiring (according to him). But when he emerged from the darkness and found out Green Bay wanted to move on, he changed his mind.
While it is not known how close to retiring Rodgers was before being told he was not welcome back to the Jets in 2025, it has become abundantly clear that he wants to play again in 2025.
And he has a preference for which team that will be for.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Wants to Play for the Los Angeles Rams

Per recent reports, Rodgers has his eye on the Los Angeles Rams in 2025. However, he does have two requirements: they would have to trade Matthew Stafford (and they have given their Super Bowl-winning quarterback permission to seek one), and they would also have to sign Davante Adams.
Aaron Rodgers prefers to play for Rams if Matthew Stafford is traded; would bring Davante Adams along if released, per @PLeonardNYDN.

Los Angeles, of course, makes a lot of sense for both Rodgers and Adams as they are California natives. The Rams have also made it known that they are going to move on from wide receiver Cooper Kupp this offseason, creating the need for another top pass catcher alongside Puka Nacua.
Over the weekend, it was reported that Los Angeles had hired Alex Van Pelt as an offensive assistant. He was Rodgers’ quarterback coach in Green Bay from 2014-2017.
Interestingly, the offensive coordinator for the Rams is Mike LaFleur, the brother of the Packers’ head coach and the man who was fired in New York so the Jets could hire Nathaniel Hackett in an effort to lure Rodgers to their team in 2023.
