Aaron Rodgers hasn’t played for the Green Bay Packers in a good minute, but fans who have seen him play for most of his career will never forget how great he was when he threw touchdowns like nobody’s business for them.
The quarterback is much loved in Green Bay for bringing them a Super Bowl, but his final few years with the franchise were rocky. It was common knowledge to everyone that he didn’t particularly like the Packers’ decision to draft Jordan Love, but their relationship has been cordial since Rodgers decided to move to the New York Jets.
While the Packers legend has been busy making the most of the offseason before the NFL campaign began, family drama resurfaced that gave fans a new perspective on the future Hall of Famer’s personal life.
Green Bay Packers legend Aaron Rodgers fought family over Olivia Munn
Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers is a book by Ian O’Connor that documents the 40-year-old gunslinger’s life in multiple facets. The book touched on topics ranging from his stint with the Green Bay Packers to his personal life.
One excerpt from the book gained controversy as it discussed a rift that occurred in his family due to his relationship with Olivia Munn.
Ian O’Connor recalled an incident in 2014 where his then-girlfriend Olivia Munn spoke openly about her sexual relationship with him. This did not sit well with Rodgers’ mother, Darla, who was allegedly “aghast” by their premarital sex.
“Given her devout religious views, Aaron’s mother disapproved of premarital sex and was opposed to her middle child sharing a hotel room with his girlfriend even as an NFL player,” O’Connor wrote.
Munn allegedly went on an “angry rant” with Rodgers’ parents over their plans to attend a game in Tampa. Ed and Darla Rodgers took exception to Munn essentially seeking “permission” for them to attend games.
“Ed and Darla explained that they had been attending Aaron’s games since he was a kid and did not need her permission to continue to do so,” O’Connor wrote.
Rodgers and Munn dated from 2014 to 2017, right smack in the middle of his run with the Green Bay Packers. While it’s unfortunate that such a thing caused friction in the Rodgers household, the fact that he allowed such things to be published shows how better their relationship as a family has become since then.
