The Green Bay Packers 2023 season has not gone as planned so far from the transition to Jordan Love at quarterback from Aaron Rodgers. Love has struggled during his first season as the starter and Green Bay has a 3-5 record on the year.
Rodgers injured himself in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills with a torn Achilles on the fourth play of the game. The New York Jets have a 4-4 record so far on the season.
Matt Schneidman, a Green Bay Packers beat writer for the Athletic, tweeted out on Tuesday by saying:
“Halfway through the NFL season, a reminder that the AFC East team that finishes in the same spot in its division as the Packers do in the NFC North comes to Green Bay next season. If the season ended today, Aaron Rodgers and the Jets would play at Lambeau Field in 2024.”
As of right now, it could happen, but a lot could play out between now and then. In the AFC East Standings, the Miami Dolphins have a 6-3 record and the Buffalo Bills have a 5-4 record. The New England Patriots have a 2-7 record on the year and it feels like they are going to finish in last place in the division and wind up with a top-five pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
As Long As the Buffalo Bills Get their act Together, It Feels Like Aaron Rodgers will Return to Lambeau Field Next Season Against the Green Bay Packers
Buffalo has been a Jekyll and Hyde NFL team this season. but they are talented enough to not finish third in the AFC East division. The Bills should finish ahead of the New York Jets and so should the Miami Dolphins. As for the NFC North standings, the Detroit Lions have a 6-2 record and the Minnesota Vikings have a 5-4 record.
Both of those teams should finish ahead of Green Bay in the NFL standings. The only team trying to stay out of the basement is the Chicago Bears with a 3-7 record, but they may not surpass the Green Bay Packers because Green Bay has already beaten them this season.
There would be a ton of stories in 2024 if Aaron Rodgers returned to Lambeau Field as a member of the New York Jets. If this matchup does happen next season, Packers fans should not boo him and all he should receive is a standing ovation.
