Green Bay Packers fans will always have a soft spot for former running back Aaron Jones (at least most of them). After spending seven years in Green Bay, the 29-year-old running back was released this off-season after contract negotiations fell apart.
Just days later (literally) Jones decided to team up with one of the Packers’ biggest rivals in the Minnesota Vikings. It was a move that shocked most NFL fans. Many figured he would want to sign with a contender being that he is nearing that 30-year-mark.
This week, Jones had something to say to his former fan base.

According to Adam Patrick of FanSided:
Jones certainly has plenty to be happy about now that he’s with Minnesota. With the Vikings next season, he’s going to be the top option in the team’s offensive backfield, he’ll get to play with the best wide receiver in the NFL, and he’ll have at least two opportunities to get revenge on Green Bay for releasing him earlier this year.
Minnesota’s first matchup against the Packers next season will take place in Week 4 in Green Bay. Then, in Week 17, Jones and the Vikings will host the Packers inside U.S. Bank Stadium for a divisional showdown.
After Green Bay released Jones this offseason for essentially not wanting to take a major pay cut, motivation is something that he will not be lacking in the 2024 campaign when he steps on the field as an opponent of the Packers for the first time in his career.
Jones missed six games during the 2023 regular season for Green Bay due to multiple injuries, but he still managed to generate 1,136 total yards and six touchdowns in the 13 matchups he appeared in (including the playoffs).
Still, the Packers clearly didn’t think he was worth what he was scheduled to make for the 2024 season, so they moved on from him when he refused to take a significant pay cut earlier this year.
Notice the optimism that Jones “apparently” has to look forward to includes being RB1 and playing with some great wide receivers. Not winning a Championship. Something Green Bay aims to do in the very near future with Jordan Love and company.
