There are a lot of things to look forward to in the Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears matchup on Sunday. Kickoff will be at 3:25 p.m. CT on FOX. This is a football game that everyone is going to be looking forward to. This is one of the oldest rivalries in the NFL, and Green Bay is on an eight-game winning streak against Chicago.
Both teams missed the playoffs a season ago and are looking to get back there in 2023. What are some of the matchups within this football game to watch out for on Sunday?
Jordan Love vs. Justin Fields
There is no doubt that the quarterback matchup is going to be the hot topic for this Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears matchup. Everyone across America is going to want to know if Jordan Love can play and be capable of being the full-time starter for this franchise after Aaron Rodgers got traded to the New York Jets this offseason.
Also, the jury is going to be out on Bears quarterback Justin Fields entering his third season. A season ago, he was one of the best rushing quarterbacks in the league, but will need to massively improve in the passing game if they want to go anywhere.
Green Bay Packers Defensive Line in the Interior vs. Chicago Bears Interior Offensive Line
During the offseason, the Packers felt like they wanted to be different against the run this season. A key stat entering this game is that Bears running back Khalil Herbert averaged 5.7 yards per carry a season ago. If Justin Fields is not contained, he could also be on the loose in the run game.
Green Bay Packers defensive star, Kenny Clark talked about the importance of being better this season. He told Jacob Westendorf of FanNation Packer Central,
“We got a different plan. You’ll see on Sunday as far as the plan. As far as the techniques and everything, how we playing defense, we’re just being more aggresive. Going to move a little bit. You got guys like myself, TJ (Slaton), and D-Wy (Devonte Wyatt) that can play stout and get off blocks. That’s all we got to do. Get off blocks at the end of the day. Stop the run and plug gaps.”
Packers Wide Receivers vs. Bears Secondary
The Green Bay Packers will have young wide receivers stepping onto the field this weekend. Christian Watson, with a hamstring injury, is most likely not going to play after being on the sidelines on Friday during practice. Romeo Doubs is most likely going to play after missing two weeks with a hamstring injury. Doubs is ready to step up. Rookie Jayden Reed is ready to step up as well and make plays for this offense.
Bears safety Eddie Jackson and cornerback Jaylon Johnson are two players to watch for in this football game on the defensive side of the football. Jaquan Brisker, a safety for Chicago who is entering his second season, is also someone who can be effective in the pass and the run. He can also blitz as well. Kyler Gordon, the second corner on this roster, is someone who the Green Bay Packers will want to target early and often this weekend.
