Green Bay Packers Insider Reveals 3 Positions Team Is “Actively” Pursuing in Free Agency

The Green Bay Packers finished the 2024 NFL season 11-5 and made the postseason for the second year in a row. However, they went just 1-5 in their division and lost to the eventual Super Bowl LIX Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. It has now been 15 years since Green Bay has won a Super Bowl themselves, and general manager Brian Gutekunst believes that the time has come for that to change.

In order to improve their roster, the Packers will, of course, do what they have always done: select players in the NFL Draft that will hopefully not only be able to contribute right away, but also be building blocks for future success. With a plethora of salary cap space available in 2025, though, many believe that Green Bay will also be major players in free agency.

The Green Bay Packers Are Apparently Targeting 3 Different Positions in NFL Free Agency

Fortunately for Green Bay, they already have a franchise quarterback in Jordan Love, who is more than capable of leading the team to a Super Bowl. However, they are lacking some key pieces around him that would complement what he brings to the table.

This is true on both sides of the ball, and team insider recently said that the Packers are going to be “big players” in free agency this year:

    🧀Where there’s smoke, there’s fire…

🚨 @RobDemovsky told @WildeAndTausch this morning that agents are preparing for the Packers to be BIG PLAYERS in Free Agency.

As seen in the post above, one NFL agent has told ESPN’s Rob Demovsky that Green Bay is actively pursuing players at the following positions: wide receiver, cornerback, and defensive line.

5 Notable Free Agent Wide Receivers the Green Bay Packers Could Be Pursuing

The Packers need to address the wide receiver position due to the fact that Christian Watson will be out for most of the 2025 NFL season with a torn ACL. Their young group of pass catchers also were plagued by drops last season, making it a position of focus this offseason.

And while Green Bay is rumored to be in the market for a wide receiver via trade, there are some options available to them in free agency:

    • Stefon Diggs
    • Keenan Allen
    • Amari Cooper
    • Marquise “Hollywood” Brown
    • Chris Godwin

5 Notable Free Agent Defensive Linemen the Green Bay Packers Could Pursue

While Green Bay’s defense was much improved in 2024, one area in which they struggled was rushing the passer. Though their 45 sacks were among the most in the NFL, their pressure rate was among the worst. As such, many believe the Packers will look to sign at least one in free agency:

    • Josh Sweat
    • Chase Young
    • Khalil Mack
    • DeMarcus Lawrence
    • Marcus Davenport

5 Notable Free Agent Cornerbacks the Green Bay Packers Could Pursue

It has become apparent that Jaire Alexander will not be back with the Packers next season. And even though the team has good starting cornerbacks in Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine, depth at the position is a concern. That being said, Green Bay could look into adding a top-tier cornerback to replace Alexander:

    • Charvarius Ward
    • DJ Reed
    • Carlton Davis
    • Byron Murphy
    • Kendall Fuller
