Green Bay Packers: 4 Games The Packers Need to Dominate in 2023

Green Bay Packers defensive end Dean Lowry (94) pressures Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins.

The Green Bay Packers are ready to kick off the 17-game schedule in 2023. Green Bay will have their sights on winning as many games as possible in order to get back to the playoffs this season after missing it with an 8-9 record a season ago. There are games on the Packers’ schedule that will be better than others.

Divisional games always draw attention no matter what week of the NFL season it is. What are some of the games that Green Bay Packers fans should be looking forward to this season?

Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears Week 1

There is no doubt that this Week 1 game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears is the game that will set the tone for the 2023 season. Yes, Green Bay lost to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 on the road last season with Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback, but this game feels a lot different this season for many reasons.

Chicago wants to prove they belong in the NFC North conversation after having the worst record in the NFL a season ago. The Bears winning this game would snap an eight-game losing streak against the Packers. Green Bay has to prove in the first game that they still own Chicago and that Jordan Love is going to be the guy moving forward at the quarterback position for them.

This is an old-time rivalry in the NFL. This game could go a long way in deciding how the 2023 season will play out for the Green Bay Packers.

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers Week 4

    Green Bay Packers
Detroit Lions celebrate a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins during the first half at Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022.

The Lions swept the Packers last season, and Detroit wasn’t hyped up then. The Detroit Lions are being hyped up to win the division, and this game will be played on a Thursday night, September 28. This will be the second divisional game for Green Bay in a month. The Packers can’t afford to drop both games in the NFC North division in the month of September.

Jared Goff is one of the better quarterbacks in the NFC. Dan Campbell and the Lions are the new NFL darlings, and will see how they will live up to their expectations. This will be a game to determine where the Green Bay Packers are after the first four games of the 2023 NFL regular season.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers Week 8

The Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers split the regular season meeting last season. Minnesota’s wide receiver Justin Jefferson and Green Bay’s cornerback Jaire Alexander have beef with each other, and it will be the first of two meetings for the 2023 season. The Vikings won the NFC North last season.

This could be the last season that quarterback Kirk Cousins could be in a Minnesota uniform. It will be very interesting to see what the NFL Standings are entering Week 8 when this game takes place on Sunday, October 29.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Green Bay Packers Week 11

This will be one of the more interesting out-of-conference games this season for the Green Bay Packers. The Los Angeles Chargers will be loaded on both sides of the football this season. The Chargers have one of the most talented quarterbacks in Justin Herbert.

There will be a lot of eyes on them this season because of head coach Brandon Staley. Head coach Matt LaFleur can very well outcoach him in this contest when they meet on November 19. The Chargers can also be in contention for one of the top seeds in the AFC, and this could be a week where the Packers have their backs against the wall, depending on how the season goes up until that point also.
