The Green Bay Packers were projected by one NFL analyst to be one of six teams that missed the playoffs in 2022 to make the postseason in 2023. It appears that Las Vegas may disagree with him as their most recent odds do not bode well for the Packers. Indeed, one sportsbook does not believe the Packers will finish ahead of any team in the NFC North.
The Green Bay Packers Do Not Have Favorable Odds

According to FanDuel, the Packers have an over/under of 7.5 for wins in 2023. According to this, Green Bay is not expected to do any better than last season’s 8-9 finish. The rest of the division, for the most part, is expected to win more games. The Detroit Lions have an over/under of 9.5 and the Minnesota Vikings were set at 8.5. The Chicago Bears share the Packers’ 7.5 over/under.
Despite having the same over/under for wins as the Bears, the Packers have the longest odds to win the NFC North:
- Lions: +130
- Vikings: +310
- Bears: +320
- Packers: +410
Interestingly, the Packers have better odds of winning the Super Bowl than the Bears and the same odds as the Vikings:
- Lions: +2100
- Vikings: +4000
- Packers: +4000
- Bears: +6000
When it comes to making the playoffs, the Packers have +160 odds.
Matt LaFleur addressed the media at the annual owners’ meeting last week and talked about how important it will be for team to rally around new starting quarterback Jordan Love:
““It’s going to be a process but it’s going to be exciting for him, for us. I don’t think any quarterback can truly do it on their own in this league. It’s going to be everybody rallying around him and trying to play at their best ability so that he can go out there and perform as good as he possibly can.”
The Packers will truly have an uphill battle to make the playoffs as they move on from Aaron Rodgers. One must remember that the team went 6-10 in Rodgers’ first year as a starter. There will be learning moments, but the team getting younger and opening a longer competitive window is something to be excited about.
