The Green Bay Packers ended the 2023-24 season worthy of salutes, becoming the first team to win a playoff game as a seventh seed as well as the youngest team to win a playoff game in the Super Bowl era. Although the Packers came just a missed field goal shy of an NFC championship appearance the defense struggled to show much consistency or aggression through the season.
The Packers front office quickly changed up their defensive philosophy, cycling defensive coordinator Joe Barry out for Boston College Head Coach Jeff Hafley. With the new 4-3 base regime in place, there are a few young talents primed for big breakouts with the Green Bay Packers defense in 2024.
#2: Karl Brooks Will Command More Snaps After Impressive Rookie Campaign With Green Bay Packers
Karl Brooks was drafted by the Green Bay Packers late in the 2023 NFL Draft. Coming out of Bowling Green, the 6’4 300 lb interior lineman was viewed as undersized with questionable competition in college, though was understood to hold talent. It became apparent in his first game as an NFL player that he was more than capable of playing on the interior line, where he earned a sack against one of the most elusive runners in the NFL, Justin Fields.
Brooks has the potential to separate himself from many members of the defensive front in 2024 after he tallied four sacks on less than a 35% snap count in his debut season. Karl Brooks’s PFF grade ended up at a respectable 66.9, giving him a good baseline to build his career off of.

#1: Devonte Wyatt Needs To Prove His First-Round Worth For The Green Bay Packers
Devonte Wyatt was drafted in the bottom of the first round by the Green Bay Packers in 2022, The Georgia native and CFB national champion was a highly touted prospect coming out of college and has shown growth and flashes in the interior on the NFL level, though he has failed to consistently string his tools together.
in 2023-24, Wyatt pulled together 5.5 sacks with 3.5 run stuffs proving his presence in the league. Though per PFF, his increase in snap count only improved his pass-rushing effectiveness and significantly worsened his run-stopping consistency. Devonte Wyatt will have more support in the run game under the new scheme, giving him freer runs and isolated one v ones to the backfield. With his physical tools, he is capable of becoming an elite interior threat.
