Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver opened up about his first year in the NFL. Transitioning from college to the professional level is not an easy task. With many players struggling early on in their rookie year, it is important to have strong leadership and veteran presence to lean on. The rookie spoke with NFL reports and spoke about the locker room and support he is receiving from teammates.
Green Bay Packers Playoff Push
Sitting at 6-6 the Green Bay Packers are in hunt middle of the hunt for a competitive wild card spot. With an overall defense that has stepped up in recent weeks, the offense too is starting to establish a rhythm. If the Packers are going to score points, rookie Jayden Reed will need to be an important piece of the offense.
The second round pick out of Michigan State has scored a touchdown in three out of his last four games, and is looking to add on to his scoring contribution. Being used primarily in the slot, he has mostly found success by finding space in the middle of he field, and occasionally on sweep runs.
He is a fast player that has explosive potential on any given play, but is certainly hoping to have a more consistent role to help his team.
Green Bay Packers Rookie Wall
In front of reports Reed talked about his first year as a Packer. Other rookie players can be overwhelmed either with the layered added knowledge required to play, or the increased physical demand. Reed seems to be taking it all in stride. When asked directly about the so-called rookie wall he offered the following:
It’s definitely hitting a little bit. Just gotta learn how to be a pro, take care of your body prepare the right way and that’s what keep you going.
He added that at this point taking care of his body, the physical aspect is an area that he is monitoring closely at the moment. This speaks well of the locker room at the moment. With calm demeanor he really does seem focused on getting better and helping his team win games.
Green Bay Packers Practice Energy
With a young team, players like Reed are showing that the core leadership of this team and the rest of the players have a good internal culture. His attitude shows that really the approach has been the same all year.
I think the energy was very high at practice, guys flying around having fun with it. As long as you have fun with it that’s what bring the best out.
This was an answer about expectations and possible pressure mounting at this point of the season. He would go on to say this regarding the team approach since the beginning:
I think the mindset in the locker room as been the same. We still have the same mindset of attacking every week the same, no matter the opponent.
This shows maturity as you really do not want to see of teams what he referred to of ‘being too high or too low’ on themselves, regardless of outcome or point in the season. With a promising start, and the right mentality, it will be really fun to continue to watch Jayden Reed develop for the Green Bay Packers.
