Green Bay Packers: Massive 1,000 Yard Wide Receiver Released By NFC Team

The Green Bay Packers could be one of the many teams in the market for a veteran wide receiver this off-season.  Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb are both pending free agents and their returns are certainly not guaranteed.  Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are definitely the future of the wide receiver position for the Green Bay Packers, however, having a reliable veteran wide receiver could benefit the Packers’ offense.  One wide receiver was just released that could fit that bill.

The Arizona Cardinals have released wide receiver Chosen Robbie Anderson, the team announced Wednesday.  Releasing Anderson, who changed his name from Robbie to Chosen this offseason, frees up $12 million in cap space for the Cardinals.

Anderson played in 10 games for Arizona last season.  Anderson was acquired by the Cardinals in a midseason trade with the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 seventh-round selection.  The seven-year veteran had a very solid start to his career.  After his rookie season, Anderson went on to have three straight years of at least 700+ yards, 50+ receptions, and 5+ touchdowns for the New York Jets.  He followed that up with a 1,096 yard season in 2020 with the Carolina Panthers.  However, Anderson has had just over 700 yards and 6 touchdowns over the 2021 and 2022 seasons combined.

Could The Green Bay Packers Target Chosen Robbie Anderson?

It is likely that Chosen Robbie Anderson would be a cheaper option in free agency.  Anderson wouldn’t come in and be the number one receiver, but he could add some depth and experience to a group that could lose a few veterans. The Green Bay Packers have also cleared a ton of cap space this off-season, which could allow them to be an active participant in free agency.

Not a culture fit. Gutey – please be wise enough to avoid a player who was just released by the team that traded for him mid-season 2022.
