Grant Wolfram is one of two MLB signings that the Milwaukee Brewers have made this off-season with Elvin Rodriguez being the other. Wolfram, a 28 year old left-hander, was previously in the Texas Rangers organization but after years of not being selected to the big league roster he elected free agency at the end of the 2024 season.
18 teams expressed interest in Grant Wolfram
Once free agency began, Wolfram received immediate interest with 18 teams reaching out. He was coming off of a tremendous 2024 season where he posted a 3.34 ERA and six saves across 56.2 innings pitched in Triple-A. His 2023 season in Double-A was equally as impressive as he recorded a 2.20 ERA across 49.0 innings. Wolfram believed he was a MLB call up candidate, especially last year, but the Rangers instead went with other options.
The Milwaukee Brewers were one of six teams to offer Grant Wolfram a MLB contract
With Wolfram receiving a lot of interest, it became apparent to his agent that a MLB deal was a real possibility. Six total teams ended up offering such a contract and Wolfram chose the Brewers. He cited factors such as location, midwest values, and the teams reputation for pitching development as reasons why he chose Milwaukee.
What role might Grant Wolfram have with the Brewers in 2025?
Wolfram is a reliever and he is likely to factor into the Brewers bullpen at various points in 2025. Having not made his MLB debut, he joins the team with three minor league options. This roster flexibility gives him an initial outlook of being a player who shuttles back and forth between the major and minor leagues, but he pitches well he could carve out a significant MLB role, similar to how Jared Koenig got a chance a season ago.
