The Green Bay Packers saw their record drop to 3-6 with their fifth consecutive defeat, a 15-9 loss to the Lions in Detroit.
Here are some stats (good and bad) that helped define that contest.
Bad Stat: The Packers had 389 total yards in the game yet scored only nine points. That is the most total yards in a game by the Packers in a game where they scored less than 10 points. The NFL record for most total yards in a game where the team scored fewer than 10 points is 501. It was done by the 49ers in 1986 in a game where they scored six points, and by Tampa Bay in 2018 in a game where they scored only three points.
Good Stat: Green Bay held Detroit scoreless in the third quarter, the first time this season that the Pack did not allow their opponents to score in the third quarter.
Bad Stat: This was the 18th regular season game where Aaron Rodgers had two or more interceptions (he had three in the game). Green Bay is 7-11 in those games. Green Bay is 0-5 in the five games where Rodgers had three interceptions. His 53.5 Passer Rating was the fifth lowest in a regular season game he started.
Good Stat: Tight end Josiah Deguara had five receptions, a career high.
Bad Stat: The Packers were scoreless at halftime. They have now lost seven straight games when they are scoreless at halftime.
Lazard has 13 TDs in last 17 games
Good Stat: Allen Lazard had a TD reception and has now caught 13 TD passes in his last 17 games.
Bad Stat: Rodgers’ three interceptions accounted for all three of the Packers’ three turnovers in the contest. In the last 20 games where the Packers had three or more turnovers, they have a 3-17 record.
Bad Stat: For the fifth time in nine games this season, Green Bay failed to score in the first quarter.
Bad Stat: Just one week after the team had 208 yards rushing against Buffalo, Aaron Rodgers was the team’s leading rusher versus the Lions with 40 yards.
Good Stat: This was the 13th time since the 2020 season that the defense held the opposition to under 17 points. Green Bay has won 11 of those 13 games.
Ten different receivers caught passes in the game
Good Stat: Ten different receivers caught a pass in Sunday’s game. It was the second time this season that has happened (Game #1 versus Minnesota). The team record for most players with a reception in a game is 12. That happened twice: in a December 22, 2003, game against Oakland, and on October 9, 2011, against Atlanta.
Bad Stat (sort of): This was the first time the Packers ever played in a game where the final score was 15-9. A 15-9 final score has now happened four times in NFL history. It happened in 1978, 1983, and the last time was on September 12, 2010, when Pittsburgh defeated Atlanta 15-9 in overtime.
Good Stat: Allen Lazard now has five TD receptions this season. That is the most in 2022 for any undrafted player in the league.
Another game with seven-plus penalties
Bad Stat: Green Bay had eight accepted penalties for 81 yards. It was the fifth straight game where they had seven or more accepted penalties. It was the sixth game this season with seven or more accepted penalties. The team record for a season is 12 games (in 1987) with seven or more accepted penalties.
Good Stat: Allen Lazard was targeted 10 times on passes in the contest, most in his career.
Good Stat: Jaire Alexander had an interception for the second consecutive week and now has three for the season, a career high.
Bad Stat: The defense did not have a sack in the game for the first time this season. Since the 2015 season, the Pack has played in 11 games where they did not have a sack; they are 2-9 in those games.
Good Stat/Bad Stat: For the third time in four weeks, Green Bay won the time of possession (TOP) battle. They had 34:42 TOP to Detroit’s 25:18. They have now lost three straight games when they won the TOP stat.
