The Green Bay Packers won their third straight game of the season with a 26-20 win over the Dolphins on Sunday in Miami.
Here are a few stats (good and bad) that helped define that contest.
Good Stat: The Packers scored 24+ points for the seventh time this season; they are 6-1 in these games
Bad Stat: The Dolphins scored first in the game. Green Bay has scored first in only four of the 15 games they have played this season. They are tied for last in the league in this stat. Washington, N.Y. Giants, Houston, and Arizona have also only scored first in four games in 2022.
Good Stat: The Green Bay Packers held the Dolphins scoreless in the second half. It was the first time the Pack held the opponents’ scoreless in the second half since Week #10 last year against the Seahawks. Green Bay has won 28 of their last 29 games when they hold the opposition scoreless in the second half.
The Packers scored in every quarter
Good Stat: The Packers scored in every quarter against the Dolphins. It was the second time this season they scored in every quarter (they did it in Week #12 versus Philly). Since 2019, Green Bay is 16-3 in games where they score in each of the four quarters.
Good Stat: The Pack has now won 15 straight games in December. The last game they lost in December was 12-30-2018, a 31-13 loss to Detroit at Lambeau Field. They have won 16 of their last 19 games at home in December.
Bad Stat: The Packers rushing game accounted for only 79 yards in the game. It was the fifth time this year they rushed for less than 80 yards. They are 2-3 in those games this year. The team is 19-28 (.404 winning percentage) in games since 2010 when they have less than 80 yards rushing.
Packers’ “D” gets three picks
Good Stat: The Packers “D” has three interceptions in the game (Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas and De’Vondre Campbell). It was exactly one year ago on Christmas Day that the Packers last had three interceptions in a game against Cleveland; in fact, they had four against the Browns that day. Green Bay has now won 22 straight games when they intercept three or more passes in a game dating back to the start of the 2009 season.
Bad Stat: For the first time in Packers’ history, two opposing players averaged 25 or more yards per catch with at least four catches. Miami’s Tyreke Hill had four catches for 103 yards (25.8 yards per catch) and Jaylen Waddle had five receptions for 143 yards (28.6 yards per reception).
Good Stat: Mason Crosby had 14 points in the game on four field goals and two extra points. He is second on the Packers’ all-time list with 12 games with 14+ points. Paul Hornung tops this category with 14 games.
Keisean Nixon breaks the record
Good Stat: With 113 kick return yards, Keisean Nixon broke the team record for most consecutive games with 100+ kick return yards. He now has 100+ kick return yards in six straight games.
Good Stat: Green Bay had four takeaways in the game (three interceptions, one fumble recovery). They are 16-2 since 2010 in games when they have four or more takeaways.
Bad Stat: The Green Bay Packers offense was two-for-14 (14.3%) on third down conversions in the game. It was the fourth game this year that the Green Bay offense converted less than 30% of their third downs attempts.
Bad Stat: The Packers were two-for-five (40%) in red zone conversions in the contest.
Good Stat: Adrian Amos had 11 combined tackles in the game. It was the third game this season he had 10+ tackles in a game. He is tied for second in that stat category with Quay Walker. De’Vondre Campbell leads the team with four games with 10+ tackles this season.
Good Stat: Jarran Reed had a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery in the game. It was the second time this season that a Packers’ player had those three stats in the same game. The other: Rashan Gary had two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery on October 2 versus New England.
Marcedes Lewis is now second on this TD stat
Good Stat: With his TD reception on Sunday at age 38-220 days, Marcedes Lewis became the second oldest Packers’ player to ever score a TD for the team. Zeke Bratkowski is the oldest at 39 years-355 days.
Good Stat: The Packers have not allowed the opposition to score a point in the fourth quarter in three straight games. They have allowed only 20 points in the fourth quarter in the last eight games.
Good Stat: A.J. Dillon scored a rushing TD for the fourth straight game, a career high for him. The team record is seven straight games with a rushing TD by Paul Hornung in 1960.
Miami averaged second-most yards per play in Pack history
Bad Stat: Miami averaged 8.36 yards per play in the contest. That is the second-highest average of any opponent in Packers’ history in a game. The top? The Vikings on December 24, 2004, averaged 8.85 yards per play. Ironically, the Packers won both games.
Bad Stat: Miami’s two TDs in the game came on two short drives: One, a one-play drive, the other a three-play drive.
Good Stat: Aaron Rodgers completed passes to 10 different receivers. That is tied for the most this season. He did it twice earlier in the year. The Packers’ record is 12 different receivers with at least one reception in a game; it happened twice. Once in 2003 with Brett Favre at QB. The other was in 2011 with Rodgers as the QB.
