The Green Bay Packers will play the Detroit Lions on Sunday night with a chance to win their fifth straight and punch their ticket to the playoffs. A Packers’ win in the last game of the season would give them the 7th seed in the NFC.
Pack is 23-9 in last game of the season since 1990
Since 1990, the Packers have been the NFL’s best team on the last day of the regular season. They are 23-9 (.719 winning percentage) in Game #16 contests since ’90 (that was the year the NFL went to a 17-week season with each team getting one bye during the regular season). Last season the NFL went to a 17-game schedule over 18 weeks.
In the Aaron Rodgers era (since 2008 when he became the Packers’ starting QB), the team is 9-5 in the last game of the year.
