NBA media days are here! We are just under a month away from the 2022-23 NBA season kicking off. One team that has high expectations is the Milwaukee Bucks. With Giannis Antetokounmpo in his prime, the Bucks look to take advantage of having one of the top players in the league. While many believe Giannis is the best player in the world, he had an interesting answer when asked. Giannis thinks this player is the best in the world.

At Bucks Media Day, Giannis had an interesting answer. When asked about who the best player in the world is Giannis responded with, “I believe that the best in the world is Steph Curry.” No one would really argue this point but Giannis went on to elaborate as to why. He said that the best player in world is the last one standing. He ended the comment by saying, “The guy that wins is the best.” The Golden State Warriors are the defending champions so in Giannis’ mind, that means the best player on the best team is the best player. That would clearly be Steph Curry. The question then becomes can Giannis regain that title?
Can Giannis Regain The Title?
In Giannis’ world, in order for him to be called the best, the Bucks need to win the title. Is this possible in the landscape of the league. In short yes. Any team that has a top 10 player can win a title. However, if we look more closely, the opportunity looks to be there. Last year’s Eastern Conference champion, the Boston Celtics, have just gone through a huge scandal that involved their coach getting suspended for the year. The Nets are reeling from Kevin Durant requesting a trade but then coming back to the team. The 76ers are counting on James Harden turning back the clock. Miami is always a tough out but hasn’t added any significant pieces. The East seems open for the taking.
This answer by Giannis shows his desire to win a championship. He isn’t getting caught up in all of the hype about himself. Many media outlets are declaring him the best player but that isn’t enough for Giannis. He wants to be called the best player because he has hoisted the Larry O’Brien trophy at the end of the season.
