Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has been diagnosed with left knee sprain. He will miss the final two games of the western road trip, and possibly more time.
Giannis suffered the injury after falling hard to the floor in the Bucks’ 113-103 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. He stayed in the game, but was taken for medical treatment afterwards. In addition to an MRI, Giannis received three stitches in his lip which had been split during the game.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging 29.6 points per game this season, which is third in the NBA. In addition, his 13.7 rebounds is good for fourth in league. The reigning MVP is considered one of the front runners for the MVP again this season, along with Lakers’ superstar LeBron James.
Giannis has had to sit out games already this season, but the Bucks have fared well without him on the floor, posting a winning record without their star player. Nevertheless, they are a far better team with him on court. When asked about his thoughts about the prognosis, Coach Bud said that the only way it could have been better is if there had been nothing wrong. The team is very happy that he will not miss more time than just two games. The knee sprain does not appear to be too severe. Giannis will be reevaluated in a couple of days to monitor the knee’s healing.
