Records are meant to be broken. Kareem said this himself when discussing LeBron breaking his all-time NBA scoring mark. Another one of Kareem’s records has been broken. In last nights NBA playoff game, Giannis passed Kareem to become Milwaukee’s all-time playoff scoring leader. This feat comes 20 days after Giannis broke Kareem’s record for total points. Take a look at the play that broke the record.
Giannis by the Numbers
Giannis brought a championship to Milwaukee, just like he promised. The first of many playoff appearance for Giannis was in 2014-15. In total, Giannis has played 66 games with a record of 37-29. Through 66 games, Giannis averages:
- 25.9 points
- 11.8 rebounds
- 5.0 assists
- 1.1 steals
- 1.4 blocks
At 27 years old, Giannis will have many more opportunities to further distance himself from other Bucks greats in a variety of statistical categories. Giannis doesn’t care about personal accolades but Bucks fans should appreciate the opportunity to watch greatness year after year.
Kareem by the Numbers
Kareem made his first Bucks playoff appearance in 1969-70. Competing in 57 games for Milwaukee, Kareem posted a 36-21 record. Appearing in 57 games, Kareem posted averages of:
- 29.7 points
- 16.8 rebounds
- 4.0 assists
- 1.3 steals
- 2.4 blocks
The NBA playoffs were much different then. Nonetheless, Kareem was a dominant force, even in his early years with the Bucks’.
Both Giannis and Kareem will go down as all-time Milwaukee sports icons and likely NBA legends. Each of these players could stuff a stat sheet and would carry their team to a championship. While Kareem’s legacy is written, Giannis is just getting started!
