In the modern NBA, players and fans alike both find out about the biggest NBA news on social media. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the rest of the world all heard about the league’s latest blockbuster trade, involving Kevin Durant leaving Phoenix for Houston, via Shams Charania on Twitter. Antetokounmpo reacted to the news just hours before tipoff of Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Houston Rockets Trade For Kevin Durant

The Houston Rockets, an ascending young team that, like the Milwaukee Bucks, were bounced in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs, have made a big move to improve their squad. The western conference team is adding Kevin Durant, acquiring him from the Phoenix Suns. Houston traded one of their young stars in Jalen Green, the ferocious defender Dillon Brooks, and significant draft assets that include the #10 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

Houston was a team that was well equipped to make a blockbuster move. With both attractive draft assets and valuable young players, there were many rumors that the Rockets could be the team to coax the Milwaukee Bucks to let go of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Now, it appears H-Town has found their veteran superstar in Durant.

Antetokounmpo appeared to react to the news with a simple message on Twitter.

Antetokounmpo and Durant have had their battles in their careers, notably an intense playoff series in 2021 that ended with a Bucks victory and an eventual NBA Championship for Milwaukee.

As the Houston front office appears to have set their franchise on an exciting path forward for next season, Bucks fans anxiously await what their team will do to improve the outlook of Milwaukee’s future.
