Giannis Antetokounmpo has been a staple of the Milwaukee Bucks since he was drafted. However, after an embarrassing first-round exit and the firing of head coach Mike Budenholzer, some are wondering whether Giannis could be looking to leave Milwaukee. NBA insider Brian Windhorst said today that the New York Knicks are monitoring the Giannis Antetokounmpo situation in Milwaukee.

New York Knicks Monitoring Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Knicks aren’t heavily pursuing but keeping an ear to the ground according to Windhorst. “The New York Knicks, for example, they got 97 percent of their attention on the Miami Heat, three percent of their attention on Milwaukee,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s First Take today. Windhorst is known for being very plugged into the league and the Knicks are desperate for a championship. Getting Giannis to come to New York would be a huge league-altering move.

Nothing More Than Sports Talk Fodder
I get that it is Windhorst so people will take it seriously but this is all made for television talk. Of course, the Knicks would be monitoring a Giannis situation. It would be silly for them not to. Even if there is no chance Giannis is traded, it is smart business to monitor the situation. I also do not believe that Giannis actually wants to leave the Bucks. Yes, this year was disappointing but they are still one of the premiere teams in the Eastern Conference. While they have some decisions to make about next year, they still should be a contender.
Giannis Antetokounmpo to the New York Knicks is nothing more than a ratings grab by an ESPN morning show. Until Giannis himself says something, I don’t even believe Brian Windhorst.
