Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks may have had a disappointing end to their 2024-25 season, but it does not overshadow what Antetokounmpo was able to do this season. Unequivocally one of the best players of his generation, Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in an MVP-caliber season. Saturday, the Greek Freak learned that he is the leading scorer in the NBA over the past 10 years.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Reacts to Being NBA’s Leading Scorer Over the Past 10 Seasons

Giannis Antetokounmpo is not only one of the greatest Milwaukee Bucks in history, but firmly en route to being one of the greatest players in NBA history. Over the past ten seasons, nobody has scored more points than Antetokounmpo.

With 18,983 points in the last ten seasons, Antetokounmpo has averaged 27.1 points per game in 701 games played. Giannis had a simple response to learning the news.

Antetokounmpo edged out Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden, known as one of the best one-on-one scorers in league history. Harden is second all-time in made three-pointers and fifth all-time in made free throws.

Sacramento Kings star DeMar DeRozan is third in the list and has been one of the most consistent players in the world since coming into the league in 2009.

Fourth on the list is none other than Antetokounmpo’s teammate Damian Lillard. In 654 games, Lillard has averaged 26.9 points per game, totaling 17,621 total points. Lillard is around 400 threes behind Harden in the all-time list and is currently sitting in 4th place.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Has Cemented Himself in NBA History

Well past other stars like LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Nikola Jokic, it’s safe to say Giannis Antetokounmpo has a pretty impeccable resume.

Antetokounmpo’s response to the incredible stat is very revealing. Players like Harden, second place on the list, have in the past criticized Antetokounmpo’s playstyle. Although the Harden and Antetokounmpo beef has long been left in the past, the two once annually battled for MVPs and had plenty to say about each other. Harden once said that Giannis was a “run and dunk” type of player without as much offensive skill as most.

Nonetheless, Antetokounmpo being first in the league over a ten-year span is incredibly impressive. Giannis has added a lot to his game since the comments. He has obviously grown as a scorer, becoming more efficient, growing his range, and gaining some veteran savvy, but he has also taken huge strides as a passer, playmaker, and defender. Not bad for a mid-first-round pick.

Even if Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee is in doubt as headlines about his potential departure continue to swirl, Milwaukee has born witness to the greatest years of his career in what is becoming one of the greatest careers in NBA history.
