With Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee uncertain, multiple teams are expected to explore ways to acquire his services. The Golden State Warriors are frequently mentioned in trade talks, though questions remain about what they could offer in return. Draymond Green’s name has surfaced over the past week, but a deal involving him appears unlikely.

Insider Jake Fischer shared a report this week with a small but notable point. If the Warriors were ever to trade Draymond Green, it would probably have to be for a player on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s level, and few, if anyone, would fit that bill. The report did not suggest active discussions or plans from Golden State. It was more an assessment of just how rare the right circumstances would have to be.

The Warriors are reportedly willing to trade Draymond Green for Giannis Antetokounmpo, per @JakeLFischer

“The only player I think in the league that Golden State would be willing to move Draymond Green for would be Giannis Antetokounmpo. That’s the only player. Between him and Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski, all of a sudden Golden State probably does have an intriguing package if you’re Milwaukee. But I don’t think that they are going to be pushing Draymond’s salary onto the table — or Jimmy Butler’s salary — for anyone short of him,” Fischer remarked.

Will the Bucks be interested with Warriors’ Draymond Green?

Green’s significance with the Warriors runs deep and is widely recognized. He is among the league’s sharpest defenders, the key communicator for the Warriors’ top lineups, and the player whose decisions consistently enhance Curry’s game. His influence extends beyond statistics, shaping the team’s structure, coordination, and overall rhythm.

It’s equally important to look at the challenges. As Green moves through his mid-30s, his scoring influence has diminished. Defenders give him more space, and his shooting remains unpredictable. These issues factor into Golden State’s long-term planning. The picture is complicated, with no easy conclusions or clear-cut sides.

The buzz around Giannis Antetokounmpo has intensified in recent weeks. It started when the Milwaukee Bucks held private discussions with him and his representatives about the team’s direction. As soon as any question arose about his future, multiple teams began taking notice.

The Knicks, Hawks, Raptors, Spurs and others have all been linked in some way. When a superstar of this level shows uncertainty, teams brace for every possible scenario.

The Warriors have long been recognized as fans of Giannis Antetokounmpo, with interest stretching back several years. However, liking a player and actually making a deal are two very different matters.
