Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo recently made a guest appearance on the 48 minutes podcast, and to no one’s surprise, there were more than a few contentious topics that made all sorts of headlines.
At one point in the interview, Giannis expressed his unwillingness to work out with other NBA stars. While this has been somewhat commonplace in today’s league, Antetokounmpo has made it abundantly clear that this concept just doesn’t float his boat.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Refuses to Work Out With NBA Co-Stars
According to Giannis, he just doesn’t see the point of these co-star workouts. This man is a competitor through and through and he feels that becoming friends with opposing players “takes off his edge.” The Bucks superstar also noted that he just doesn’t know “how to be fake.”
Needless to say, you won’t be seeing Antetokounmpo working out with any other NBA players who are not on the Milwaukee roster anytime soon.
Evan Turner Fires Shot at Giannis Antetokounmpo?
Former No. 2 overall pick Evan Turner appears to have taken exception to Giannis’ comments. The retired NBA journeyman has been seen working out with the opposition in the past and clearly, Turner has no problem with the same.
In a recent tweet, the 34-year-old appears to have thrown some shade in the direction of Antetokounmpo (and Milwaukee as well) over the latter’s recent comments:
Ain’t nobody coming to Milwaukee to work out wit you and your brother
— Evan Turner (@thekidet) September 13, 2023
Obviously, Turner didn’t name Giannis in his tweet, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what he was trying to say here — especially considering how Turner tweeted this out shortly after Antetokounmpo’s workout comments went viral.
The former Ohio State standout did try to do some damage control by somewhat denying the fans’ suspicion that he had directed his wicked jab in the direction of Giannis:
Now how y’all figure I was talkin bout buddy?
I know a lot of people in Milwaukee who I think nobody will go train with
Take it easy
— Evan Turner (@thekidet) September 13, 2023
I don’t think you’re going to get off that easy, Evan.
