After an important road win Wednesday, Wisconsin stays on the road to visit Nebraska Basketball tomorrow. The Cornhuskers are still in a rebuild but have shown improvement over the last few seasons. This is another game the Badgers need to win. Tip time is 3 PM on BTN. Here is a preview of tomorrow’s game.
Continue To Feed Wahl In The Post
Tyler Wahl rebounded Wednesday and had a really good game. The senior forward had 16 points, six rebounds, and a career-high eight assists. He finished at the rim the way he’s used to doing, and the Badgers needed every point. When he’s playing well, this is a different Wisconsin team. They need him to play well every night.
Wisconsin’s best offense is getting the ball to Wahl and Steven Crowl in the post. There they can decide if they can attack the rim or kick out for a jump shot. They did a great job doing this against Penn State and it resulted in a season-high 53% shooting from the field. A similar performance on the offensive side will result in another win vs. Nebraska Basketball.
Know Where Tominaga Is For Nebraska Basketball
At the beginning of the season, you probably didn’t know who Nebraska Basketball junior guard Keisei Tominaga was. If you follow Big Ten basketball religiously, you know he can shoot the three-ball, but consistency was always the issue.
Now? He’s arguably the player Wisconsin must stop tomorrow. Over the last eight games, Tominaga is averaging over 16 points a game and has been in double digits in seven of the eight for Nebraska Basketball. He’s only 6’2 and 175 pounds, but he can create his own shot and can pour in the threes fast. I would expect Chucky Hepburn on Tominaga, but don’t be surprised if Max Klesmit draws the assignment of the junior sharpshooter.
Wisconsin vs. Nebraska Basketball Prediction
Nebraska Basketball is 11-14 on the year and 13th in the Big Ten. They are only better than Minnesota. However, Wisconsin can’t take this team lightly. Nebraska plays really well at home, and they recently beat Penn State by double digits at home. They also took Purdue to overtime before falling by three. While this isn’t a good team on the road, they can play with a lot of teams in Lincoln.
Wisconsin needs to establish itself on the offensive side early. Derrick Walker is a big guy at 6’9 and 245 pounds, but he’s the only post-presence Nebraska Basketball has. Walker also struggles with foul trouble too. I think this has another Tyler Wahl game all over it. If he can make early baskets, it will force the Cornhuskers to clog the paint. This should result in open jump shots.
Defensively, Wisconsin needs to keep Tominaga in check. If he’s able to hit early shots, it could get really interesting. Despite the record, Nebraska Basketball always has a good home crowd and they find a way to stay active.
Wisconsin has not done a good job since being 3-0 in conference play of winning back to back games. They have not done it since early January. Could this be the time the Badgers are playing their best ball of the season? I think so. I think it gets interesting, but I like Wisconsin to close this out in the final five minutes.
