The Brewers offense exploded for eight runs in yesterday’s game. Justin Smoak and Christian Yelich hit home runs and Ben Gamel continues to rake. This afternoon’s rubber match is Freddy Peralta vs Tyler Chatwood.
Fastball Freddy and more…
Peralta spent his offseason playing in the Dominican Winter League, and absolutely dominated. In just 20 innings pitched, Peralta struck out 34 batters and posted a 1.35 ERA. To coincide with his Winter Ball success, Peralta worked on perfecting a curveball and added a new pitch to the mix. Known for his high-heat fastball, Peralta has added a slider to his repertoire. Ready to bounce back from a not-so-great 2019, Peralta earned a spot in the rotation to start Game 3 of this series.
Tyler Chatwood: Reliever to Starter
The 30-year-old right-handed pitcher is in his contract year with the Cubs. Chatwood has made 25 starts as a Cub and spent the rest of his time in the bullpen. In 2018, he led the league in walks allowed at 95 and spent most of 2019 in the bullpen. He’s looking to change that narrative starting today.
Brewers vs Cubs
These games are more meaningful than past seasons because of the 102 fewer games that each team is playing. With the addition of strictly divisional play, the standings will be more volatile. Since the standings will be changing more frequently, it’ll be a race to the finish line in September. This series has been anything but conventional, but baseball is back and that’s all that matters.

Keston Hiura 2B

Notable News
Per @AdamMcCalvy, the Brewers activated pitcher Eric Lauer from the 10-day injured list and designated relief pitcher Mike Morin for assignment. Lauer will be available out of the bullpen today.
More from McCalvy, infielder Brock Holt is day-to-day with a sprained ankle. Since Ryan Braun is not in the lineup, he will be available to play.
