The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the defending World Series Champions 1-0 on Monday night in Milwaukee. Freddy Peralta, Devin Williams, and Josh Hader combined to throw a two-hit shutout. In the process, they struck 16 Atlanta Braves hitters. Additionally, Freddy Peralta reached an important career milestone.

    10 Ks and a milestone.

Freddy Peralta and the Brewers Win the Pitching Duel

Freddy Peralta and Atlanta Braves starter Ian Anderson went toe-to-toe in an epic pitching duel. Peralta got the upper hand, going seven innings, allowing just two hits, and striking out 10. He only walked one batter.

After retiring the first two batters in the first inning, Peralta allowed the next two batters to reach base. Jace Peterson caught a line drive to third with the tip of his glove to save some runs. Peralta was next to unhittable after that. Going into the game, Peralta had a 15.00 ERA in the first inning of games this season.

Ian Anderson was nearly as good, but not good enough. The Braves starter went six innings, allowed just one run on four hits, and struck out three. He also walked two Brewers batters. The lone run he surrendered came in the sixth inning when Hunter Renfroe scored on Anderson’s wild pitch.

Devin Williams and Josh Hader Close the Door

Devin Williams and Josh Hader combined to face six hitters in the eighth and ninth innings. They struck out all six. For Williams, it was his 10th hold of the year. Hader, meanwhile, extended his Major League record by saving his 14th game in his 14th appearance.

    Luis Urias Is Heating Up

Ever since coming back from a quad injury, Luis Urias has been quite the boost for the Brewers offense. He went 2-3 today with two singles and a walk. He is now hitting .302/.415/.465 on the season.
